About Neon Astro Defender
Neon Astro Defender is a free Asteroids-style game built for modern browsers. You control a vector spacecraft in a constantly moving combat zone filled with asteroids, enemy UFOs and unstable gravity wells. Your objective is not simply to survive: you must also protect the mothership and complete all ten levels as quickly as possible.
The game is an original production rather than a copy of the official Atari title. It takes inspiration from the responsive movement, screen-wrapping space and high-score chasing associated with classic vector arcade shooters, then adds power-ups, mothership defence, mobile controls and an online score table.
How to play the Asteroids-style game
- Select Start Game in the game window.
- Rotate your ship to face incoming asteroids and UFO raiders.
- Use thrust carefully so you keep control while avoiding collisions.
- Fire continuously to clear hazards and protect the mothership.
- Collect upgrades and complete all ten levels for your final time and score.

On mobile, tap or drag within the game area to move the ship. Weapons fire automatically so you can concentrate on steering and survival.
Power-ups and hazards
Upgrades can add side shots, improve speed, activate a shield, strengthen the mothership cannon, repair the mothership or award an extra life. Later levels increase the pressure with denser asteroid fields, stronger enemies and environmental hazards, so collecting the right upgrade at the right time becomes increasingly important.
